I attempted to put a new Marble's, front, Fiber Optic sight in a T/C Renegade. I was able to tap out the original out O.K., left to right. But when I tried to install the new sight, I could not get it started in the dovetail, either right to left, or left to right. How do I fit this new sight?

Use a tri corner file with one flat ground smooth, and file fit it by cutting back the dovetail of the sight, NOT the guns dove tail.

like wick said but file a little and test fit till it starts and then drift it in with a brass drift....ya want a snug fit not loose or real tight...........bob

How about filing the bottom of the dovetail of the sight, will this help, or is filing the sides usually enough? Thanks for your help.

If you file the bottom you automatically reduce the width, if that makes sense however the blade may hit the top of the barrell flat. If you have calibers- then see what type of room you have. As a general rule, the standard practice is the way Wick told you to do it. Years ago I thought all sights were driven in from only one side, true? Others probably have the answer.
In any event putting on the sights never gets enough attention. It's the last thing you do but if you screw up the gun looks like hzxyw. Use a drift and protect the area.
If the site ends up being loose use can use a center punch on the site's bottom to dimble it. This raises little craters around the dimple that will give you a tighter fit.
