Historically the midget Brown Bess like stock and furniture smoothbore fell out of favor over good old hand thrown grenades by the highly respected grenadiers. Took more than balls of lead to hurl grenades up against a fort in the open. Professional baseball pitchers might have been recruited had they existed in the 1700's.
