Thanks buddy.

I'm a bevel up kinda guy traditionally, and this lock seems to like it better. i do think that my flint life can be improved somehow, probably with a combination of spring and angle. I value your advice AB. I've read many of your posts and consider your input a valuable resource. No need to qualify your statements with me.

im not afraid at all to mess with parts, after all thats half the fun. i just won't do it while the gun in question is needed. once my 36 can take over responsibility for putting game in the bag, look out!

my apologies for quasi high jacking this thread with my own questions.
But, to boil it down, use dear hide instead of lead. Wld elk work, or is it too thick lending to these problems again? I have both, just lookin into what ever options there are.

And once again, I apologize to the orig author here.

How dare you sir
Ill have you banished!

No worries

I use deer hide and find it works well. I do not believe this is the norm. Any leather that is not super thick and soft will work. Grippy but not bouncy. Savvy? Moose would be fine im sure......., and it is very durable. Moosehide moccasins were preferred for durability.....then deer....elk wear out the fastest.

Cow works too!

yep, moose is what I have the most of at this point, and am doing mocs and pouches out of. Might even do some type of shooting vest out of.
