"Flint" is a term usd to describe quite a few different types of rocks that have similar qualities/characteristics it is not real a "type" of stone or rock from a geologists point of view.

Is all that really flint? None of the rocks in my guns look anything like that. Amazing. That picture was a dead end, do you have another web address with more info?

Thanks,
Horse Dr.

According to my PETERSON'S ROCKS AND MINERALS GUIDE, "Microcrystalline Quartz" is the catagory that contains Agate; Jasper; Chert and Flint (Black Quartz).

All phases of Quartz are mainly hard stones, Mohs scale #7 in hardness. The OHIO FLINT link is likely Agate.

When dull gray Chalcedony is stained by Nickle, the greenish results are called Chrysoprase, when Iron is in the mix, it turns red and is called Carnelian.
