Flint Reconversion?

You would do both the gun and yourself a great disservice to label it as a "FAKE". It is an original pistol that has been re-converted to flint. Neither was there any chicanery intended by you or your friend.

Might I suggest you engrave the back of the lock plate with either "Restored to flint" or "Re-converted" and follow with your friend's name, and your own, and possibly the dates.

Then, everyone involved can look upon the pistol with fond memories and no feelings of shame or guilt.

Thank you for your thoughtful advice. I am very glad you wrote that post. The last thing I would want to do is bring shame or feelings of guilt on that Lady or my friend. Maybe stamping the word REPRO on the inside bolster of the lock near the re-conversion would be a better. I really appreciate you adding that.
