Thanks- the barrel I used a file first and slightly rounded over the edges. Next I fit the sights in and dressed the base of the front one. After that I used fine sandpaper to remove marks. Then I used cold browning solution and deeply browned and slightly pitted the metal, which I rubbed out leaving that grayish textured surface. Finally I used paste wax to keep it from rusting.

You noticed the long fore stock taper . I hadn’t done that before and think it helps make the fore end look slimmer (this stock has a pretty heavy web to work with).

I have just finished building this flintlock pistol today. Siler lock, GM barrel, Pecatonica stock and various parts from MBS.
I found a small surface stress crack (or maybe I over-wet it raising the grain?) on the side panel after dying the wood. I was so upset. Nothing takes the wind out of my sales than stuff like this.
I wanted to test fire it out but we're getting rain storms passing through again (got some sprinkles while taking these pictures). Hopefully tomorrow I will have a better opportunity.

Got to try out the pistol today. I am certainly not a pistol shooter!
I shot at 16 yards and held the pistol butt-down on a table. I found it liked the .440 prb with .018 ticking and 30 grains of 3f.
The lock is pretty quick and reliable with just one pan flash.
I guess the front sight has to be filed down some and the rear sight moved to the left a bit.

Little imperfections give it caricature. I had the same outcome building a rifle years ago and to this day when I take it out my eyes immediately gravitate towards that spot. LOL Super job though looks fantastic.
