I had that same conversation with my son's second grade teacher years ago when he told her I had my flintlock hanging on the wall above the mantel. I told her about the same thing that Tim said - only I said he would have to find my powder horn that was stored with my shooting bag that had the balls in my gun closet - or use a grape!

Saw this episode and was shocked, to say the least, at the stupidity of some people. Allen, who has portrayed 'the average man' in almost everything that he has done, should have been aware that a flintlock and a cap lock are not the same, even if only through casual observance of the two. Seen this too often in movies and tv shows, the actor blindly speaks the line them, committing the most egregious errors.

Another thing the un-initiated show is pumping the ramrod like they're churning butter! As if the load has to be pounded down under tons of pressure.

In Tim's defense; I did a film on a tall ship once, I was playing the Bosun, one of my lines was to call out orders of which one was "MAN THE T'GALLENT!"
After learning my lines all week we all met up at the docks, I saw the ship we were filming on was a Staysail Schooner (No topgallent?!). I pointed this out and was told "dont worry, just say your lines as the camera will be on you not the sails"

Out at sea, we pirates took over on deck and the cameras rolled. But, after I did my part and the camera crew began setting up for the next scene - one of the regular (real) crew came up to me and asked "Sir, would you mind pointing out to me the T'gallent??" - I started laughing So Hard, the director saw me with one of the crew and rushed over thinking something was wrong, all I could do was point and say "It's His Fault, He Made Me Say It!!"

Ya, them Hollywood writers and directors are not the sharpest tools in the shed sometimes.

I know it's a tv show, but a percussion cap on a flintlock?? They could have just googled "how to load a flintlock" and this mistake would have never happened . Although I'll cut Tim Allen some slack because he is one of my favorite actors.
