Best thing to do would be to call Middlesex and ask Pete Plunkett. He handles the technical questions. The phone number is on their website.

Another option would be to have a machinist lathe-turn a larger nipple down to a smaller sixe so that a #11 cap would fit, if it takes the odd-sized caps, or just buy standard musket caps and pinch them a bit so they don't fall off (which is what I did before switching to the other nipples).

The blunderbuss, I only use buckshot in (which is what it was originally meant to fire anyway), but a .69 caliber bore would take a .680 ball, with about a .015 patch (according to the DGW catalog).
 
WOW!! IN the spring!! i will be treking from colarado to northern montana via trails an woodland with my black powder firearms!! thats why iam asking these questions!!1 i have planning this for a long time!!
