J have been"dealing w/ them for almost 9 mo.
Heres the results \:

approx 9 mo.s ago I ordered the following : a Baker rifle, sword bayonet, a "scots pistol", & some "rifle badges.
Results.
After 3 mo.s of Queries ( E- mail & phone, most of which were ignored or answered with info not accurate), I got my "Scots" pistol & Baker, BUT I still do not have the other items :: ( to be fair, the bayonet was back ordered ( although I was assured it was in stock @ the time of order & up until shipment)
Scots pistol - very nice :)

Baker rifle - MARGINAL :imo: Made in India & it "shows" it.(NOTE I have a Rifle Shoppe Baker & did not "expect this to "match up", but wanted one to have as a weapon to when I did not want to expose my $1500+ gun to damage or theft etc - plan on using it when I give Talks etc.)
The stock & furniture = what a "real" issued Baker might have been like. - Lock -Good spark - Lock assem. - Rough, but w/ some work ( honing etc, it is more than serviceable, parts will not be avail. if something breaks)) Sights - cheap & off center ( Braised on) Barrel --Unrifled ( MORE this later) it is supposed to to be a "hook breach BUT the "hook on the breach has been "Peened over & therefore not "functionable. -- Rifling the barrel -- They "advertise" that they will supply" the name of a gunsmith,(see below) who will rifle the barrel & proof test it.
, for $150.00 The smith actually puts on a completely NEW barrel & breach from the Rifle Shoppe & discards the or sends back the "old" one ( I'm giving it to buddy to use as a trade gun barrel) The $$$ he charges is NOT $150..00, but $200.00 ( NOTE, he seems to be a "straight shooter" & very helpful. :front: Add another $40.00 for him to mount new sights (Rifle Shoppe)

Cust. service _ VERY SLOW & UNRESPONSIVE :imo: The only way I have gotten ANY service @ all is by faxing the owner. EXAMPLE-- The guns came w/o any invoice or gunsmith info. :( It took 2 mo.s to get this info !!
Inaccurate info.as to "instock, shipping dates, etc.

+++++s Good $$$ & Money back guarantee, if dissatisfied w/ product send it back.

:imo: If you order from them BE aware of the LOOOONG lead time & POOR cust service :imo: (NOTE: it may sound as if I am "impatient" etc. but over the years I have had a "couple of "customs" made & understand "lead time & "cussedness" & others, who I know have had sim. experiences))
Has it been worth while ??? Yes, the Scots pistol is great ( allot less than Dixie's & as good.) & even the Baker, will be worth it once it is rebarreled etc. It's YOUR decision.

Like mentioned, you might try Loyalist.I have alway gotten replies to my e-mails from them.. A friend of mine bought one of their 1740's .62 cal smoothbores. It is a good looking gun. He has shot it and likes it a lot.

Might want to give Loyalist Arms a try.

I haven't dealt with them myself, but they have many of the same firearms and I've heard good things about them

I bought a pistol from Loyalist Arms. I have nothing but good things to say about them. They responded to my emails promptly, even after I had received the gun and had a couple of questions. The delivery time they told me was realistic and they even beat it by a couple of days if I remember correctly. They will drill the touchhole for you if you want them to. :m2c:

I used to buy Powder from Blair at Loyalist arms.I can drive to his place in less than 2 and 1/2 hours.I have never bought any weapons from him but he is a quality guy to deal with on powder anyhow.

Hello Halftail... Rick Draper here in Dartmouth, NS. Just out of curiosity... would you know of anyone interested in buying a Jack Garner .62 cal smoothie? I have one in premium maple (tiger) with brass nosecap and butt and side plate. It has double set triggers. Barrel is about 35 inches, octagon to round. Due to the fact that I am on a disability I am selling this smoothie. Shoots well. Please let me know where you are at. Here is my phone number if interested: 1-902-465-2654

Always remember, you get what you pay for.

That would be nice. Militaryheritage.com (The Discriminating General) has some of the highest prices for the Indian repro arms, even at their "sale" prices, which were an attempt to match MSV's prices, though MSV sends them with a drilled vent, sling and flashguard.

I've talked to at least one person who had to get a different lock for their TRS Baker kit because the one supplied was no good. For the high price and extraordinary amount of time it takes to get their products, that seems unacceptable.

I'm not trying to argue or get snippy, it just seems that for Baker Rifles, it's best to go with the cheapest.

Thanks everyone for you input. Actually I was just curious as to who had purchased one and the quality of their poduct.

I build all my own custom guns but didn't want to refer someone there for an inexpensive flinter if the quality and service was no good.

Here's a link to my introduction in the Welcome forum to the Muzzle Forum with photo's of one of my pistols I built. http://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/ubbthr...p;page=0#144728
