I haven't had any problems locating flints online but they are like any other item, if there is a run on them some retailers will limit how many you can purchase at a time.

You say a friend left you a pile of flints? Wish I had a friend like him. I've bought flints from a number of sources including TOW. I once bought a bag of old mixed flints and a few of them fit one or more of my locks. Of the rest a few more could be used even though they weren't the suggested size. A little nip here and a little nip there made nearly all the others at least usable.

Here is what I have. Don't ask me any technical questions about flints. I know nothing about flints, except they make a spark.

Looks like you have a nice size assortment of finished flints that should fit your needs. And raw material to try your hand at some knapping. I do some knapping with a extremely low success rate, but its fun. Keeps me from wandering around in the woods at night. Those are a very nice gift.

I shoot no flint lock rifle. Have one Great Plains 54 cal percussion rifle. Have absolutely no need for flints. These were just in with all the other stuff. Lots of bullet molds , round & conical. Lots of old hand loading equipment. Will be some time before I get it all sorted out. Flints I will sell. Have no need for them, the flints. Will consider any reasonable offer.

Same here. I buy all mine from Track of the Wolf. Usually when I place an order, even for something else I include a request for a couple English flints. I have enough to last a good while, so haven't had the need to order any recently.

I get mine for free by ordering a couple of pounds from Ima pulling out what I want which is the French Amber and then selling the rest on eBay
