Looking in the classifieds...I noticed there is one of those french styled yank muskets "mod 1816" From mvt and above it is a walnut stock inletted for the 1861 pattern percussion musket...

What I am thinking is....Could you take all the parts off the 1816 and have em fit on that walnut stock???
How different is the lock inletting..

Seems to me to be quite a cool project for not so much cash..

I am broke or I would be very very interested..

So would that lock fit on the walnut stocks inletting?? Or is the inletting to tall?

Good project for someone with the cash.

Not in any way, size, shape or form, the M1816 is totally unlike the M1861. For starters, the barrel is larger in diameter and longer, the bands are completely different and the lock is completely dissimilar - it is longer and wider and of a completely different shape. Sorry, an interesting idea but it is in no way possible.
