Now that Deer season is winding down, will anyone be involved with some sort of regular shooting routine...ie: a range session every week, every other week, every month, etc?

We got 5 days left of flintlock deer season left. Then I will get back to my routine of shooting 4 or 5 times a week, rain or shine. Springtime my club will resume it's monthly ml shoot. I will have my new TVM Early Lancaster by month's end, then I will be very aggressive in breaking in a new barrel.

Shooting at our range as weather permits during the week, snowshow biathlons in New England on the next six weekends. :hatsoff:

Big John, you have any info on the snow biathlons? I'd be interested. With the forcast for this/next week though might just be a biathlon.

As far as shooting I'll be doing varmits (coyote) til end of Feb., turkey in the spring.

Well let's see :hmm:

When I leave for work it's dark, when I am coming home it's dark. I have 5 kids and a kitchen remodleing job going on right now so I haven't shot since right before Thanksgiving.

My local sandpit I shoot at has closed down for the winter and the closest public range I shoot at is 35miles away.

I just bought my 2006 hunting and fishing licence so I will be out with the .32 looking for snowshoe hares and coyotes when I get a couple hours here or there.

If I get one of my old clunker snowmobiles up and running I will go out onto one of the big lakes to do some shooting. If not when I get up to camp I will do some shooting while my friends snowmobile.

That will be a month or so I guess though.

Good gracious...sounds like the "retired-R-us" crowd..."several times a week" ?????????

I normally shoot every Saturday morning unless there's a hunting season or a special hunting opportunity like coyotes...planning to try calling a coyote into a Flintlock some Saturday during the next several weeks myself...have a caller and a rabbit distress tape...just no idea if there are any coyotes around

I shoot every weekend unless the weather or family schedule interferes. I'd shoot every day if I could.

Hey Roundball,

I guess the one (and probably the only) benefit to being here in sunny California is that both of the clubs I shoot with have monthly shoots year round. There are rendezvous within 2-3 hours every month of the year except December (atleast I haven't found one yet). I take my two older children (6 and 9) for a primitive camp out the first weekend every month, rain or shine. One of the clubs I shoot with (shameless plug) Sierra Muzzle Loaders has leases 760 acres that members may use anytime for camping, shooting etc. I feel very lucky when I read about all the forum members who are limited by weather. On the flipside, many of you are "there" where it all happened. You have the benefit of all the historical sites and museums.

I could shoot every day if time allowed...the range is about 100 ft. from my back door. As it is I almost always go on a Saturday morning hunt for something. Squirrels are in for another week, yodel dogs til mid-April, crows til March 15th I believe then turkey season starts in late April.

After the hunt I usually put a few rounds down range just cuz. Early last night I had the opportunity to kill a skunk that's been chacking out our front porch. I waited til he was off the porch of course.

I try to get out as much as I can.
Sometimes Once a week sometimes every other week.
I like to shoot in the winter. The humdidty is a lot lower here in PA and fewer people at the range

If I live through this second round of heart manipulation ( arties closed back up after heart surgery and have to go back in for heart cath end of wk or first of next wk) small game and hog season comes in two wks from now and will hunt hogs with .54cal. I found a place during deer season that is ate up with them and backed out to save for small game and hog season.

I try to get out once a week weather permiting. I usually work with two rifles when I go and shoot a 3" bull at 50 yards offhand. If I'm having a bad day I'll put one up at 25 and massage my self esteem. From my performance at the club shoot this week, I should do more pistol practice also.

I went to the range last week when the weather cleared up but it was pretty muddy. All that snow is melting. Either will wait for it to dry out or have a clear frosty day.

This is when I do my shooting. Every weekend until sailing season starts again in April. :haha: Bunnies & squirrel (& grouse with a smoothbore) 'till the end of Feb, then targets, cans, gongs, etc.

I shoot MUCH less in the summer.

Hunting's all over here and my Lobster season is winding down too so I'll be at regular at my Muzzleloading club once a month till spring then along with monthly shoots the "vouz" season starts,Also, whenever I get chance I'll pop up to a range that is 1/2 hour drive from home at least once a week to work on my Flintlocking.Maybe I can talk Soggy into joining me.

What worries me is that I'm beginning to wonder if I like shooting Flintlocks every weekend more than I like hunting every weekend...keep thinking the novelty will wear off, I'll grow tired of it and start selling everything off except for 1 or 2 rifles, and be done with it...but hasn't happened yet...still look forward to Saturday mornings so I can go to the range

I guess I'm luckier than most of these folks living in south Georgia. I try to shoot most Sunday afternoons and last week was beautiful. Sunshine, little wind, and temperature in the high 60's. Our muzzle loading club(Brushy Creek Muzzle Loaders of Lennox Georgia) has a nice range 20 minutes from my house. Our club shots are the 4th Sunday of every month.

I usually shoot every weekend, weather permitting. I try to schedule my chores so to make time available for either Saturday, or Sunday for this. I have a 50 yard range out my back door, which makes shooting very convenient. Good weekend fun!
