The hole that the plunger sits in is .538 or so.

I have centered it on .45-.58 barrel and it works fine It's not a self centering starter. It will work with any caliber as long as the plunger fits in the bore. flat face on the bottom. This is not a complicated tool.

Center it on the barrel , push the ball down and it starts the ball into the barrel.
