I was at a local antique store today and found a really nice CVA Plainsman for $50.00. No rust, good wood, complete. Only problem? It was made into a lamp, drilled a hole through the barrel, and breech plug. The stock was nailed to a peice of wood to hold it upright. BUMMER

so, how many watts are ya gonna shoot in it?

as my favorite uncle would say "it's a strange roarin' goes through some people's heads". luck to ya gettin' it straightened out & have a good'en, bubba.

Heck, I'd buy it because the lock alone is worth more than $50. You can cut off the barrel and sell it to be used as a pistol barrel. If the stock can be repaired, it, too is worth at least $50. Buy it and just part it out and you can make some money on it.

A little J-B Weld will fix that right up :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

Seriously at $50 it's well worth the parts

Remember don't blow down the barrel. I second the idea of spare parts. But would have to get it for less than 50. Larry

The only thing on the gun that was good is the lock, I don't think a CVA lock is worth $50.00

The CVA turned into a lamp was bad. Worse was when I was shown a cherry Parker Snow M1861 rifle musket the had been made into a lamp.

That barrel has value even if the bore is rusted beyond belief. It can be cut off and rebored and then made into a carbine or pistol. The trigger should be good and the lock will be worth at least $50. I guarantee, if it was me, I'd buy it and part it out and make a profit on the parts on what looks like a ruined rifle.

My late father in-law made 2 or 3, 30-40 Krags into lamps in the 70's. I wish I knew him then so I could tell him NO DON"T DO IT!!
