I just finished a horn for the son of a guy I shoot with and needed something to fashion a strap from, without getting too much money in the stuff. I was perusing the sewing and craft section at Wally World and there, calling out to me from the place where all the rolls of ribbon and lace were displayed, was a roll of 3 1/2" wide jute strap. It had two broken wine colored 3/8" wide stripes running the length of it and was very sturdy. I doubled it over and sewed it the full length, giving me a strap 1 3/4" wide, just right for a horn. Good part, it was only $ .54 a yard. No guarantee it will be carried in all Wal-Mart stores but it is worth a look.

That appears to be upholstery webbing. If your local retail giant doesn't carry it, check fabric shops in the upholstery section. It does make a servicable strap. Seen several of them over the years, even owned a couple.

Howdy your right it works fine I have a piece with blue on a possibles bag and know of several others who have used the same webbing. You can't beat the price and it wears well. Got mine a wally world too.

seems like a good idea..I haven't tried it yet, but will...has anyone tried to do beadwork on this stuff? I think it might be a pretty good "backer" for the stuff...I'm not much of a fan of bead work, but I might try it just to see..Hank
