Found a Tomahawk with "MC" stamp. Anyone know the smith?

Got another mystery blade off ebay. This ones a primitive hand forged tomahawk with "MC" stamped on the blade. I'm thinking about cleaning it up with a file, but wanted to know if its was made by an established smith, before having at it. Here's the auction pictures:

Don't know about the MC but that's the first hawk I've seen with a wedge. Should clean up to be a pretty cool hawk. If it were mine I'd have at it...

I'd guess the handle taper was a bit small for the eye. I'll probably re-handle it.
