Nicely done.

It's odd but the only times that I've had a deer "run" to be out-of-sight from where it was hit, has been three bucks, and no does. And not every buck that I've harvested has run, either.

Every heart shot deer I've taken with bow or muzzleloader has run for all its worth. Generally in the direction they were facing when shot. This one was the exception to that as he swapped ends before sprinting to the bottom. One never knows.

I've seen 10 antlerless. Had beads on three, but the first one was opening day (I never take an antlerless on the opener) and the other two were obliging in standing still, but there was too much small branch action between us and I passed.

Good luck. We Hoosiers (the southern types) get real excited at the prospect of deer hunting in the snow. Sadly, those chances have dwindled over time.

The snow sure makes it easier. Though seeing deer ankles under the sagging hemlocks at 180 yards is both a blessing and a curse.

See I only go for the lungs, as I like to eat the heart. Now one of the bucks that took off had just finished moving from land with a bunch of fox hunters and dogs, so he was "pumped", and when he got to where I was he slowed to a walk then stopped and looked back over his shoulder...that was his mistake....the stopping to look.

Congrats on that nice buck. Some great deer hunting in S. IN. Wife’s from Madison. Fowler’s are indeed versatile. My only problem was the wide open shot patterns. I threaded my 28 Fowler for choke tubes. I Use a bore size tube for ball and a full tube for shot. Very tight patterns out to 35 yds. Not PC. But neither am I.
