Trying to help out a friend. He has this percussion smoothy and it has no marking other than what looks like a 10 in a bunch of places.

My guess is its a repro from the 50-70s but figured I'd ask the experts.

I'm just trying to figure out what he has and if it's (assuming everything else is in working order) shootable.

Thanks!

Could that be a Whitney” good and serviceable “ musket? They made these muskets for sale cheaper than a real Springfield or Enfield.

Hmm, interesting, ill try to get some better pictures. I didn't take a great look at it, just snapped a few quick pictures.

Its actually pretty long. I didn't capture that in the pictures

The "cut-down" refers to the wood stock. It normally extends further towards the muzzle with a large barrel band. That part was removed to make it a lighter to handle shotgun.
