Has anyone ever thought of doing live updates of whats going on at shoots I am using friendship as an example because thats the only one i go to but it could be applied to any event. I had internet down there so maybe someone could be on a laptop or phone and let folks know whats going on or organize impromptu forum get togethers. Dad thought it up and i thought it would be pretty cool if it worked.

video would be awesome didnt think of that. If i could have stayed longer i would have done it this time but i had to leave tuesday morning.

Yeah it kinda is.
Besides, watching a shooting line punch holes in paper for a 20 minute set is about as much fun as watching paint dry.
It's much more fun to punch the holes than watch.

Then what, watch folks milling around a vender?

Then record two old guys visiting/talking about old times and new guns?

It was just an idea i talked to a couple shooters and vendors about it and they liked the idea :idunno: I never really understood the privacy thing when in a public place though.

For me personally, invasion of privacy.

Don't leave home there are camera's every where watching you. Some so small they could hid in the end of a Powder Horn. Privacy is a thing of the past.

I understand Wal-Mart has more cameras than most retail stores, so you could be under surveillance at work when you are greeting customers Richard.

Have nothing to hide, have zero to fear. BTW NSA listens in on phone, snoops the intern, and god only know what you post carries know from you books, magazines, catalogs, and return address on your incoming mail.

I've never been to Friendship. Maybe some day...

On one hand it would be nice to see video of the lay-out, buildings, settlers, and maybe Match highlights (NOT LIVE, so you don't go to sleep watching it). On the other hand, I'm not quite sure how many folks would be enthralled with the idea, as some go to primitive camps to "get away from it all", and shoving a camera in their faces tends to take something away from THAT.

I'm sure that some video has been shot professionally from time to time since the event is publicized. I wonder if the NMLRA has any links to any news media covering the event, and whether or not the NMLRA has a dedicated Media Rep to walk them around during the Matches?

As far as a Live Feed goes...I'm with Necchi, I'd rather watch paint dry. Give me highlights--like watching a tag at second base--and you'll see lots of folks tune-in!

I remember seeing Friendship covered on Shooting USA in the past.

Oh by the way I've made a pretty good living for the past 30 years or so watching paint dry! :blah:  :v

Correct, it was now super wow, but had some mini wow factor.

But the exposure was something positive the group (aka NMLRA) I am sure got a few inquires about future event, and maybe membership.

I would think Facebook would be a good vehicle for that. The main problem being the majority of folks in this are barely competent with today's technology. So it takes someone of the younger generation to point the way. Go for it Freekforge! Call NMLRA and make a suggestion, offer to lead the charge!

Back a few years ago a friend who was a AZ Field Representative, Region Nine Field Rep. Coordinator, Member of the Yuma NMLRA Affailate Club proposed a Primitive Artesian Fair during the Western "N" Shoot. He apparently had a lot of personal contact in the Primitive Artisans idea Community.

His idea was simple to invite approx. 30-40 Primitive Artisans to set up in an Artisans Area, where they could demonstrate what they did. Invite the Media to cover the event for publicity, and also let the local Boy & Girl Scout Council know of the event.

All of this was OKed by The AZ Game Ranger at the time who ran Ben Avery Facility.

Also the Artesian would pay for one TRADING Space on Trader Row, where items made at the "N" Shoot could be sold to the public.

Sam thought this would attract 3-5 thousand spectators to the "N" Shoot. The idea was written up, and sent to "EVP Miller" and the EX Com for the next years PHX "N" Shoot.

Sam never even got a phone call from Miller, or any of the EX Com. Sam saw the writing on the wall, gave the NMLRA no more of his time, and money. SAD NO ONE EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED THE IDEA.

Sam & i still talk occasionally, and he still wonders why no one saw the Artesian Fair as a building block for the NMLRA, at a Cost to the NMLRA of ZERO, plus the loss of one Paid Trading Space at the "N" Shoot in PHX had his idea work or failed after being OK for the next "N" PHX Shoot?

Good luck with the idea of telling the NMLRA Officers anything. But I am sure someday the could wake up.

There is some new blood in the NMLRA and they seem to be embracing new technology and ideas.

Seems like the rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, as the ship has been in sink mode a very long time, with many members going else where, or just giving up on the group.

So what is this "embracing new technology and ideas" you speak of?

Examples please, of the embracing new technology and ideas/
