Thanks for info. I added it to my list.

andy52, I can't say I liked Battleship, but I actually liked John Carter from Mars. I'll admit the book was better, but I still wanted a second movie to finish up some of the story.

I've watched both and didn't turn them off half way through and yes the books of John Carter were much better than the movie.

I just watched the first two episodes. I am no film critic, but I like it and I think Peter Berg has captured the brutality of the times and the factions in the West.
I will leave it to others with more knowledge to critique the authenticity of the costumes, weaponry, etc.

Wife and I plan to get a few episode knocked out this weekend. Glad they loaded it all at once and not one a week.

I’ve only watched episode one, but I’m enjoying it so far; I wasn’t aware the whole season was released in one fell swoop.

I think it presents a raw and unvarnished depiction of a tumultuous period in American history, shedding light on lesser-known conflicts and the complexities of cultural clashes during westward expansion. It might appeal to those interested in a more somber and critical portrayal of the American frontier; the relentless bleakness and violence can be a bit taxing. I definitely see a striking resemblance to the film The Revenant.

Yes, the "grey" overcast look really gives it a dark serious tone. The westward expansion period of the mid to late 1800's was a meat grinder for all .

Thanks for the suggestion. My watch list has been awesome because of you all.

On another note. I like Taylor, I thought he was good in Friday Night Lights. Battleship, LOVED it actually. I liked the way they used some of the real crew. " What do ya need, Son" " Sir, I would like to borrow your boat" AWESOME loved that scene. And they used Col Gadson in the movie as well. That got my utmost respect. The guy is a true American Bad @$$. The loading sequence of her big guns with them big ole BLACK POWDER cakes, AWESOME! Realistic movie, no but come on, the dropping the anchor and sliding the big ole Missouri around the corner was entertaining. It's a movie based on a board game. Totally fictional but highly entertaining.
John Carter, I'll watch it every time I come across it. Just my .02

If you like watching violence and bloodshed with throat slitting of women and hacking people in the face with tomahawks, this show is for you and you're a sick ba$tard! Not for me...

I appreciate that the show isn’t for everyone, but dismissing others who enjoy it as ‘sick’ seems unfair. American Primeval is intense and raw, but it reflects the brutal realities of the frontier era. If you’re looking for something more idealized, maybe Little House on the Prairie would be a better fit for your tastes.
