I have known of the Friendship shoot for over 30 years but never made plans to attend. Now that i am headed for the back 9... It's something I think I should do.What do you folk think of the whole experience out there. looks like a lot to see and do. Do you have to pre register?? Is it just once a year? How long does it run for? thanks

The big shoots are in June and Sept. nine or ten days each. You can pre register or at the shoot. The people there will help you get registered. Download the 2012 shoot program and decide which matches you want to shoot. They have something for about everyone.I shot there in June and September this year for the first time. I shot mostly on the offhand line. They have many different matches to choose from. Many ML vendors are set up. Two flea markets. Large camping area. We take our trailer, but many people camp in the primitive area, and in tents in the regular camping area. I reserved our camping spot in advanced. My wife and I enjoyed it and plan to attend again next year.

There is a TON of stuff to do and see. If you can, plan to spend the whole week or 9 days. You probably still won't have enough time to do it all.
The 2 big shoots in June and September start the 2nd weekend and run 9 days. The June shoot seems to be a little bigger usually.
You have to be a NMLRA member to shoot. You can join in advance or when you get there. You will also have to buy a shooters registration. Each match you shoot costs a few dollars too. Bring lots of $$$ and lots of ammo. Mostly $$$. If you run out of ammo you can buy more there.

Do some shopping at the sheep sheds.
Do some more shopping over at the Primitive side of the road.
Take time to look at the displays in the museum.
Go to the barn dance.
Learn some stuff at a seminar or 2.
Taste some wine at the education building if you're into that.
Taste something a little harder up on the hill if you'd rather.
Shoot your rifle, pistol, shotgun, and revolver in every sort of match you can imagine. Bench, clays, offhand, primitive, woodwalk... Don't forget your archery gear and knife & hawk.
Meet some new friends and have a lot of fun.
Oh, and eat some frybread from the trailer by the Primitive gate. Good stuff. Go for breakfast and ask for the "Dave Special". It's not on the menu.

That's the good stuff.

I'll stop there...

I recall there was a big shoot over around Winchester Va,,or is my memory wrong.Read where they recorded the shoot one year and used it as a sound Track for battle scene in a Civil War film.
Loyalist Dave can you confirm this??????
