I forged this hawk out of some 1 inch square spring steel. The steel is from an early steel wheel rip plow. It is the spring that the plow point bolts to. I antiqued the head with Birchwood Caseys Plum brown then used scotch brite to remove some of the browning. The handle is curly maple stained with Track of the Wolf's aqua fortis. I finished it tung oil and then waxed.

You make it sound so easy when in fact there is a great amount of artistry and technique involved. Nice work.

Another beauty from the "chicken house forge and sauna". It has been great forging weather lately  . Glad to see you are back to smashing metal again.

Mike, Man has it been hot :surrender: . Never really quit smashing the metal just kinda slowed down to keep from dehydrating in the "chicken house forge and sauna". The air conditioning (cracks in the walls) just don't work like it should.
