I recently bought a used Lyman GPR, and the original sights had been replaced with fiber optic sights. I wanted to put more traditional sights back on and ordered them from TOTW. They had and sent the rear buckhorn, but the front blade has been on backorder for months. My question is, are there any other blade sights that will fit a GPR. Thanks

I'm in the same straights as you. I ordered a replacement GPR front sight from Midway & its' been on backorder at least 90 days now. Apparently the replacements are shipped by rowboat from Italy & are still in transit.

Track & others who have parts should have a good selection of sights to choose from. I'm about ready to make up a dovetail brass base and solder a nickel silver blade to it - gonna wait until cooler weather first

The slot for the front sight is metric, but thankfully a little smaller than the standard 3/8" base on most US sights. I just find the sight I want, then file the dovetail sight down a little to fit. Same for the rear slot. Takes a few minutes and is dead easy.

I agree with Brown Bear. Buy an American front sight of the correct height and file the base to fit.

Thanks, I wasn't sure .Now I may change mine out for a bead front sight seeing as how I have a couple of old Investarms barrels laying around not being used.

I did just as Brown Bear suggested, and just made one with a brass base and german silver blade fit, then filed it down to adjust for elevation. If you go this route, make sure you get one that is a little too tall since you can always file it down but I have yet to see anyone add any metal to make one taller.

I have ordered two direct from Lyman They are reasonable but not all that fast in their shipping. Geo. T.

These are what I put on my GPR after I recently refinished it. They came from Log Cabin Shop the front is a blank silver blade on a brass base I filed it to the shape I wanted and then filed the height when sighting it in.

I've seen LOTS of gun sights but that rear sight is a new one on me. Tell me about it. Maybe a couple more photos would help. It appears to be a two piece sight of some sort. Is it adjustable by moving the part with the notch in it? What holds the notched part in place? Where did it come from? Interesting! Interesting!

WOW!!! They sure are proud of their parts. I thought Dixie was high but these folks beat them by a mile. One of their replacement barrels costs almost as much as you can buy a whole gun for on the Forum. You can have a custom made barrel from one of the better known barrel makers for considerably less than these folks want. I guess if they are the ONLY place that has what you need, you might be happy to pay the price. But if it were me, it sure would sting my pocketbook.

Hey Bill,
Got it from Log Cabin Shop p/n 50025. It's a one peice, probably more for a long rifle but it works good on the GPR. I'll bring it Saturday to WSB and let you fondle it

I'll be there. Can't wait. It really looks good on your GPR. I like the looks. See ya Saturday. I may bring a new shooter.

Why not just call Lyman for the right sight?

Generally, the Lyman GPR front sight is a bigger pain than most any other option. They are always way too tall and, IMO, way too thick. I need a sight for an unfinished GPR on the bench and will just go ahead and make one rather than fight with the factory sight.
