Well,I finally was able to cook up some of the venison. There was no freezer burn nor funny smell so I ate some and am non the worse for it!You all are welcome to stop by and help me eat it!Cheers,J.A.

Proper care when wrapping can keep in the freezer for a long time. My father-in-law would have his deer etc. butchered and then when he got it home he would re-wrap hisself. He had meat in the freezer for 5 years and up and it tasted as fresh as the day it was skinned when he brought it out to the table.

This is good to know.I am a first generation hunter,as it were.I had no one to teach me so I bought books and dvd's and then went out and did what I learned.I've had many failures and some successes and a bully good time! I do recall once reading "somewhere" a list of how long different types of game meats keep in the freezer,so I was'nt sure. This has been another good experience, thank each of you for your replies,Best regards,J.A.
