A couple of years ago I bought a few rifles from a collector.
This is one of the guns.
FlintLock appears to be a the large Siler lock
50 cal with a 15/16th 38 inches long Bill Large Barrel. The lock has had a flash or two in the pan. But the barrel appears to be unfired. The barrel is stamped W.M. Large LIne two J.J.J.J. Line three is a single L. The third line is a bit dark in the photos. I guess that I should get off my chair and go and confirm the third line.

This rifle tips the scales at 9 lbs. The rear site has a insert that allows for vertical adjustments. But it still looks very period.

Fit and finish are good, it's not as ornate as some might want it to be. I would think that the rifle was designed to be a hole shooter.

After retirement I found myself in a home in Minnesota where it's not as easy to step out my door and shoot. That was one item on my check list that never got checked off. I still have a custom NW rifle to use if I desire. And oddly I have a 25 year old Track of the Wolf trade gun kit that I need to tackle some day. And so it goes.

Hi Bob I read that post. Yes it was interesting. I ran down stairs and looked at the markings on my barrel. It is as stated in the first post.
No additional markings are on the barrel. From that I am assuming that only old hands touched this barrel. I like fine shooting barrels so if it doesn't sell I can always start using it.
