wayne1967,i'm trying to get a bunch of hawk's forged up for that event,i'll be the 1 with the Hudson Bay Trade Axe in my belt

Going up this weekend for early setup. Wonder if the turnout will be smaller because the delayed annoucement?

I'm thinking about driving down this Saturday afternoon. Anybody know how late this event is open to the public? Worth a 3.5 hour drive?

would love to know how the rondy was when you guy's get back. always wanted to go to de chartres,be about a 6hour drive for me. hope everything went smooth with them reopening.

Fort de Chartres was great! I spent the day Saturday at the event. Some vendors had made commiments to other events when the Illinois historical sites were closed, but many others were there. While some numbers of reenactors were down. Certainly there only a couple of British soldiers there.

However there were 400 registered camps by Friday evening. The weather was perfect.

 I went down Friday and stayed with afriend and his son. Beautiful weather. It was a larger gathering than what I expected to due the circumstances here in Illinios recently. Looked like a good turn out of shooters and a good showing of those who took part in the archery shoot. Less venders but that was to be expected to such short notice and I know those who usually attended will be back when it is clear that historical sites will not be used as political football. Those who attended, both campers and venders, showed once again why rre-enactors are high class by hopw well behaved they are and how they are able clean up after themselves, but then agian it is our motto to leave only are foot prints behind. Am already making plans for the winter rendezvous that is more catered to re-enactors with a wood walk shoot tht has for the last few years is so popular that not enough time in the two days to run every team that want to shoot to shoot. But then agian we re-enactors like shooting the bull around the campfire as much as we like to shoot our flintlocks. Keep your powder dry and watch your top knot.

I made the drive down there on Saturday afternoon... had to work until noon, had to get back home by bedtime. That didn't leave me anywhere near enough time to see everything. It was HUGE! Way bigger than I expected. Now y'all say it was smaller than usual!!! I'm glad I made the trip, and I'll be going again.
