Well,
Started practicing more on the offhand in anticipation of the event this November. I’m still struggling with offhand at fifty yards. My last shot just to make sure it wasn’t something with my sight-in on the rifle was off my elbows not lying across the carpet and it hit exactly where it’s supposed too. (target on the left) More work is needed. All shots were at 50 yds. I guess it’s follow through is my problem. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Really looking forward to this event.

RM

Hey rod man I will be there. me a Fennewald looking for 3 good shooters for a team Look us up. I’ll be setting up a trade tent. I am also a yeungling fan. I make a good grog bucket also. I guess we prolly already know each other. Rick

😆 well the “Good shooter” is at this point questionable. Thanks for the offer, but I am part of @andy52 ‘s crew already and I am practicing to avoid embarrassment! 🤣. Yeah, I am a fan of Yeungling as you can see, I found that those wax coated cartons hold up well against the weather. This will be my first visit to the Fort. Most of my activities have been in Texas with @Einsiedler . I’ll look y’all up and we will certainly have a pint or two together!

I already asked @rick1964 to join our team if Cody was a no-show which appears he is. When I picked up Bill's tent a few weeks back.

Very few targets will be out at 50 yds on the woods walk and you as patrol leader will have the choice of who you want to take those shots. Most shots will be 25 yds and under, some may be hawk and knife range. I'm in the process right now I'm in making up a bunch of small linen bags for 5-person containers for their rations.

Is there anything I can do?
No reason for all of us to do some of these things. I'll have enough rations and bags for 5 people which will include dry beans, rice, beef jerky, and salt pork. Also, pack light on the food for the weekend I intend to have enough for the four of us through Monday. You can bring me some of that Yeungling, I enjoyed what you had at the Classic. Can't get that here in Missouri

Typically, the Woods Walk is long gun only, no pistols. Practice is the best preparation. Keep talking to @andy52 for the kit you need to bring. Sometimes we bring way too much gear for the event. Sometimes the hosts are looking for far more equipment than one really would have carried.

See you at the Fort.

Yessir, really looking forward to it!

You can’t tell can you?

😆
I talked to our 5th shooter today he decided he would camp with use rather than just come for the day, just for @Grenadier1758 our 5th shooter is an old-time member of the trapper's club. He and I talked about gear today and agree that sometimes you do carry more gear than you need but between the two of us we'll have all that. I'll be taking Bill and Breyden out next week and get them started shooting from the bag.

Doesn't everyone like Yuengling? Usually make a trip or two to Terre Haute a year to purchase a couple cases.

Fort De Chartes is a little longer haul, but enjoy it when we make the trip. Might try to go again this year. Let me know where your camped and maybe we tell stories.
If you decide to come, we will be on the north side of the fort close to the drainage ditch, by the check in station.

Is there anything I can do?
Yes! Take photos, or have folks take photos of you on the woods walk, for those of us who have never been on one. I wouldn't know what to expect. I'm still putting my kit together, and the only times I'vs shot my MLs were at the farm from my tailgate. I can guess what to do, but I learn more from seeing than from guessing. Thanks.
