Short notice--but if anyone is in the area this weekend (tonight, Sat and Sun), there is the annual Spring gathering of French Marines at the fort in Natchitoches, LA. Also the EARA will have their keel boat there on the Cane River. At the same time there is a festival in Natchitoches town, adding to the things "to do"....My wife and I will be there all day Sat.

The fort was great. We had good weather--a bit warm, but good. We had a good turn-out of Marines and coureurs de bois. The Arkansas reenactors brought their PC keel boat down and put it into the Cane River by the fort--and gave "voyages"--free if you can use an oar. We had only half of the tourists come through that we had in December on a cold day, but there were two festivals in the adjacent town of Natchitoches to draw away folks. My son took several photos, but as yet has not sent any to me. For dinner we had a prime roast of buffalo with potatoes&carrots, jambalaya (this IS Louisiana), corn, bread fresh baked in our outdoor kiln, wine and pies for desert. We "frenchies" now how to eat!
