Well it's a been a long time since I stumbled into here. Some may recall I purchased a .44 cal revolver for my dad for fathers day. He took it out to the range, and I followed with my .45 rifle to make some smoke. Anyways we had so much fun, that when a fellow club member offered to sell me his .44 Navy for $50 I jumped at it before he finnished. It shot great for the first few trips, but slowly I noticed that the cylinder would not always line up with the hammer. A light touch would set it back, but the next time it would be off again. So I took it apart and discovered the little flat "U" spring that pushes against the little lever to lock the cylinder in place had snapped. I think it's also the trigger reset spring? Anyways where can I find one of these springs at? :surrender:
The only marking I can find on the barrel are
"HARTFORD CT MODDEL"

"ASM BLACKPOWDER ONLY CAL 44 MADE IN ITALY"

I hope that is enough info for you gentlemen, but if not I can try to get some photos. :hatsoff:

Your problem is not unusual. There was a period of time where many if not all the Italian replicas had "soft" internal parts and breakage was common. Fortunately, there are simple solutions.

First, your gun is made by Armi San Marco (ASM) and spare parts are readily available:
Go to VIT gun parts at http://vtigunparts.com/. Click on the large logo in the middle of the screen. On the next screen there will be a list of manufacturers on the left side. Click on Armi San Marco, then click on ASM 1851 Navy. The next screen should be an exploded parts diagram; the part you want is No. 19, the trigger bolt spring. Click on the red order button next to the part number in the table below the diagram to order the spring.

Many people are replacing the stock trigger bolt spring with a wire spring made by Heinie. It's available at Brownell's under part no. 394-630-000. The URL is http://www.brownells.com/aspx...NGLE+ACTION+TRIGGER/BOLT+SPRING&s=17257#17257
This wire spring appears to have significantly better life than the flat spring. However, since the "soft" parts problem was identified there has been a significant improvement in the quality of both spare and original parts. I have purchased enough of the wire springs to replace all my original springs when and if they wear out.
