I was wanting to know if anyone had gone and if it would be worth the drive. According to their website they seem pro juried, and you have to pay up front or face an extra fee the day of. I plan my vous , especially if inclement weather is looming the day of and I decide it would be safer for me to stay at home than make the drive. I am not a fan of someone telling me I have to pay months in advance to go to their rendezvous and I hope this doesn't start a precedent. It did look like it would be a nice vous and it's about 4 hours east of me so I entertained the thought , just too far for a day trip for me.

I booshwayed a Southwestern in my younger days. Preregistration is needed to keep cost down while still providing necessary services. Hooters are expensive and there is a formula to calculate the minimum number, but you want enough so no one has to stand astraddle the hole between pumpings. They are obviously into prize money and have to recoup it.

I thought the rules seemed like they were more for a marching society, not a rendezvous. It is their ball, so they are entitled to do what they want. I might try to make it as a walk-in next fall if I am in Tennessee at the right time to do some shopping. I don't enjoy large public events due to the "large public". Foofaraw and gear seems to grow feet. Most of our doin's in Texas are CLOSED to the public. Theft is virtually unknown.

I agree with you rp77469 , I guess the dig for me was that its $35 per person to camp if you pre-register and if you show up Wednesday off the cuff its $60. Seems kinda steep for a public enabled vous. But like you said "its their ball". I guess that why there are many small and fading ones, the older members in the clubs nowadays seem to think that it brings the yayhoos out sometimes. Don't mind the juried events and understand the concept but I think here the City of Pikeville is involved and they probably will take any kind of revenue they can get before daddy Andy finds out.
