The Art of the English Trade Gun in North America

View attachment 195241

I did get this book. It is an in-depth study of the significance of the art, specifically the sideplates, of English Trade Guns and how the art evolved. It goes into the European origins of the artwork and what that art meant to the Native Americans who were purchasing the guns. There is a timeline of sorts that can be assigned to the artwork on the sideplates. There is a subtlety associated with the art that belies the simplicity of the gun itself.
