Learned Colleagues,

I visited Rice Barrels a couple of days ago, and IMHO,
they build truly excellent barrels. A high precision outfit.

FYI, I learned that they are moving soon, and barrels will not
be available again until much later in the year. As they are
now some hundreds of barrels behind, I suggest that if
you need a Rice barrel, get what you want from your
favorite supplier now, as a dry spell is coming.

Regards,

Mainspring

I spoke to Rice Barrels a couple minutes ago about my own order which was originally scheduled for April/May. They are backlogged, right now, just because they are overwelmed with orders. I was told to expect my TOTW style, .58 Jaeger barrel in late June. As he said, he wants my money as bad as I want my barrel.
As far as moving is concerned, they are adding another building, with more machines and more employees. There may be a slight slow-down, for a week, which the average customer will not even notice. The result will be increased production and reduced wait times.
Right now, they are working 7 days a week, trying to keep up with orders. The rumour of a long shutdown and longer wait-times isn't true. The biggest problem is guys, like me, calling about their order and wasting even more of their time, trying to explain the problem.
HAVE PATIENCE, PEOPLE, THEY'RE DOING THEIR BEST.

Just ordered another 46" bbl from Rice for the next build and it should be "in house" when I've finished the present build sometime in August. This fall is when the addt'l work space will be available at Rice and production will be only slightly delayed by a week or so. Ordering far ahead eliminates anxiety and enables me to concentrate on the build instead of logistics.....Fred
