Hi everyone, I recently received a very nice garret sharps from BigSkyRambler and am interested in seeing if the carbine already has, or needs an o ring modification.

I am also curious if the garret sharps has a chamber sleeve that's should move freely or has one at all. This particular carbine seems to have a fixed chamber? I hope it is not stuck if so.

Where can I find reliable Information in how to disassemble the block?

Any other information in the garret sharps would be welcome! Only a few threads out there.

P.s....the Lawrence primer system in mine is a really coop addition!

If it has the Hahn modification, it will have a fixed gas check plate and a removable chamber sleeve with o ring. If it has the Flees modification it has a new AMPCO BROVE gas check plate and fixed chamber sleeve. The only way to know if it needs a modification is to shoot it. If it leaks gas the action will bind up rather quickly. Go on the N-SSA bulletin board. Plenty of info there. www.n-ssa.net.

Thanks, where can I contact these guys for service?

I came across a Garrett Mississippi years ago at auction, had never heard of him and his imports. There was a percussion Sharps there, too, but I wasn't into BP Sharps' then or now. But his story is interesting. The markings on the guns were really authentic looking. The N-NSA is a gold mine of info and historic preservation!

I’ve been trying to register on that site for quite a while and I don’t believe they’re accepting any newcomers. (Or maybe it’s just me…. ?)
