Anyone recall the old 'Our Gang' mini-movie titled 'General Spanky'? Takes place during the Civil War and the Gang is defending a fort from attack! They set up a board with numerous broomsticks vertically, and march back & forth behind the walls, indicating troops marching with muskets; the attacking Rebs (if I recall correctly the Gang were Union) were frightened off. No actual shooting or casualties, it's a perfect kid's "army fantasy". I have it on video, I think, but would need to get it converted to DVD. When you were young, you could never ever see a movie or TV show again, until they invented home video tape then DVD, now everything-streaming, which I don't have! Then there was the 'Three Stooges' episode where they split up to join the Civil War effort, and Curly comes back with a Confederate uniform, whereas the other two joined the Union!

I loved all those Gang episodes that were on TV back in the 50's after school...wonder how many modern young people who laugh at the Buckwheat impression what's-his-name did on SNL, ever actually watched an Our Gang short? I loved Buckwheat, Petey, Alfalfa, all of 'em...
