Your brother's work is superb. His work can stand in ANY company. A real shame if he cant continue making rifles.

You're right-on. Did you see the Dag? He started making firearms with an entirely hand-made Approx..52cal. Military Horse pistol back when he was 18yrs. old. He had no plans, didn't know what a flintlock looked like inside, but knew what a percussion lock looked like from a an old broken perc. gun my Uncle had. He'd seen pictures of an English Horse pistol in a book from the library, and knew the frizzen spring was on the outside. I don't think it had a pan/frizzen bridle, but all the various parts were firgured ut and he wenat ahead with it starting with boring a solid bar, filing flats (6 of them-HA!) then reaming with a reamer my Dad made for him. All springs and other parts were made by hand, including the frizzen and cock. The supreme test for it was firing upsidedown. Actually, the ignition was faster that way due to the flash penetrating the roughly 1/4" wall to the bore. We knew nothing of liners in those days.
: So, now, he can only make rifles, etc, as a, er, ah, hobby. Like any other gun he doesn't want to keep, he's A/OK to sell, of course. He's also open to suggestions as to what to make next. HA!
: He tallents also go to making knives, big ones and little ones as well as primitive bows, arrows and scale RC aeroplanes. The sword has a 44" blade and is a full 2-hander, 12th or 13th Century - typical plain Crusader's sword. The knife if a Scottish Dirk with a 17" blade. The handle is all handcarved.

WOW :shocking: that is incredible. I have all the tools necessary to do work like that except for one element.
SKILL! I have none.
I think people that do work like this are true artists and very gifted.
