the movie with val kilmer and michael douglas where the two lions are feeding on the railroad workers. the pistol that michael had does anyone know what it was?

It was The Ghost And The Darkness. I never got a good enough look at the pistol to be certain but think it was a Howdah and probably a muzzle loader. Good movie.

IIRC, been a while since I saw the movie, the pistol was called a tiger pistol. Makes sense since he had hunted in India too.

Yeah, I remember that movie. I slept with the lights on for about a month after I watched it.

I may see if my dad has it so I can watch it again. I love the movie for a couple reasons: Speed Enfield, The beautiful engraved Martini Henry, and the Tiger Pistol.......way too cool. I can see the draw of Colonial Africa during the 19th and early 20th century.

Here are a couple pics of the Howdah used in the movie.. I always assumed it was a cartridge pistol and took the same cartridges his rifle took(which was common with Howdahs). However it looks like it's capped, so it could be a muzzleloader.
