Here's a horn I made as a birthday gift for my brother. Please excuse the bad photos - the horn has a really nice twist that doesn't show up. It was almost totally white except for the dark spots. I tried a couple of scrim designs but wasn't satisfied with the results, so I sanded it smooth. The nice grain pattern showed up when I dyed the horn. I'm almost glad I didn't save the scrim as it probably wouldn't have shown up much anyway. The plug and stopper were turned from walnut.

Very nice Horn Eric, __ Your brother has a great brother and I'm sure he will treasure it!__ That horn does have some nice grow rings showing!

Rick :hatsoff:

I am always a fan of horns that stand on their own, just by virtue if their architecture and a little enhancement of their color. This one has all of that. Very nicely done.

I'm gonna start calling Eric brother every chance I get. Heck my birthday is only 359 days away.

Great horn, lucky brother. Keep it up Eric!

The medallion is a 1793 copper US penny. Is it a real one? Well, the guy in China didn't say it wasn't.

Hi,
I really enjoy the pure beauty of the natural horn.
The turned tip and plug, give a great contrast.
The 1793 penny just says it all for time period.
But please pardon my ignorance, is that a real 1793 penny, or a reproduction.
If so I GOTTA get one!
Thanks!
Fred

Found a source for replica coins on eBay. It's there sometimes and, sometimes not. The quality varies. Some of them look pretty good (but obviously different when compared to a real one) and some of them are laughably bad. Kind of like my horn work
