Hey all,
those of you shooting the Green Mountain IBS barrels,
What has been the perfered ball and patch combo for you?
I'm casting .395 balls and am ready to make another patch cutter.I am looking for a diameter for the patch and also would like to know what thickness is working best for you in these GM barrels.
I know Roundball and ss1 are shooting these, so hopefully they will chime in?

Thanks all,
Brett

Mine likes the smooth cotton in 015 - lubed with D & L Permatex Hand Cleaner (blue tub). I buy Speer roundballs.

Not yet...my .40cal GM Flint version is now built and was sent to the bluing process Tuesday...hopefully that will complete this week and it'll ship to me next week.
I'm currently ready for the first range trip with fifty 40grn charges of Goex 3F, Hornady .395s, and both .015" plain cogtton and .018" pillow ticking patches

I use .395 cast ball, wad and 35 grns of 3f goex.
I have .018 ticking cut in 1" strips and cut at the barrel. Off the bench it shoots 1 hole about the size of a 50 call ball. This is for the percussion and the 40 cal. flint barrel it shoots clover leafs off the bench, same load for both. Love those barrels.

I have two .40's, but have only played with the one with a Getz 44 inch barrel. It is dead on with 30gr 3f GOEX and an .017 denim dry-lubed patch, Ballistol 7:1. I'm sure that somewhere up around 55-65 gr of 3f (upper limit) that there will be another load with acceptable accuracy for deer.

The other has a 44 inch Rice barrel, but I've not messed around with it yet. My associate who made this one has a duplicate piece made at the same time, and he swears by 60gr 3f GOEX and an .015 denim patch lubed with straight bear oil :hmm:.

I cut at the muzzle. I use the WalMart pillow ticking and do the water soluble oil and water soak and then dry the strips to make a dry patch. I clean with a spray or dab of Murphy's Oil Soap thinned to taste with alcohol.
