GM Barrels fromTOTW

Hi All,
Wondering if anyone who has purchased a Green Mountain barrel from TOTW could answer a question for me.
What markings are stamped on the barrel?
I purchased a 50cal drop in barrel, for a Thompson Center Hawkens, 2 years ago. There are no stampings on the barrel, at all. No caliber, no warning, no GM trademark.
I e-mailed TOTW wondering why no markings? Was told not everyone likes them. REALLY!
If I tried to sell this barrel, how could I prove it's a GM barrel? Some one other than myself would wonder"What caliber is this".
Just wondering if anyone has this experience?

gm barrels i have and have seen always had a small wavy 'mountain peaks ' sort of stamp. maybe someone can post a pic. maybe totw has theirs made w/o it. ???

I just bought a drop in TC 54 Green Mountain barrel from them. $300 odd dollars and I have not looked at every inch of it but I don't think it's marked GM. My other ones are marked. I do know that the barrel inside is very rough. Before I shoot it again I am going to smooth it out. It really is the only game in town for drop-ins.
My first GM drop in several years ago was a 45 and was so rough I sent it back and they sent me another one that has been awesome, this was The Log Cabin, good people too. It has the GM mark.

I have bought a few GM barrels in the past for BPCR rifles, they never had any marks on them.

I have 2 GM barrels both bought used. The .32 cal has a ser# on the upper left flat, " for black powder only" on the top flat and the GM mtn logo & .32 CAL on the upper right flat. The .40 cal only has the logo & 40 CAL on the lower right flat and it's hidden when it's in the stock. There is no serial #.

I have maybe a dozen Green Mountain barrels. Everyone of them has a serial number and the Green Mountain logo on it. Here is a group photograph of a few that are not currently mounted in stocks. I am not going to pull the others out of the safe just to take a photograph, but you should get the idea. With no GM logo and serial number it is likely not a Green Mountain barrel, unless I have missed the Green Mountain train as it passed through. In which case any piece of steel with a hole through it could be a Green Mountain barrel.

I have a 36 caliber barrel that is marked like the ones above and a 58 caliber that is not marked at all. The 36 was purchased at a local gunshop that consolidated with a bigger shop. The 58 was purchased at Dixie Gun Works from the scratch and dent isle...it was missing the rear sigbt..

The easiest way to identify a Green Mountain is to look at the components it's made from; the breech plug is unique, the underlug is square and the ram rod ferrules are plain with raised ends.

A GM I.B.S. is different then a barrel that was made by someone to fit a T/C or Lyman rifle.
Was your purchase from Track a "new" barrel I.B.S. or a not new offering that fit's a TC,,?
TOTW takes in a lot of trades,,
Did you look at the bottom flat?

Trust and verify. As said above by SDsmlf, if not marked, it could be a piece of junk made by Joe Blow as far as we know. For those with unmarked “Green Mountain” barrels, were they bought direct and shipped from Green Mountain with an invoice? If not, how do you know what they are?

I never checked most of my barrels to see who made them. I do know two are from Rice and found another to be a GM swamped barrel. This barrel was a .40 at one time but is now a .45. When the barrel was removed there was "GM" on the bottom flat and the symbol with it. I've owned it for a long time and it is a fine barrel. Does GM still produce any swamped barrels nowadays?

The barrel was purchased new from TOTW.
No doubt it shoots good. It actually shoots very well.
I have a 45 cal. GM barrel that I purchased earlier this year, from one of the forum members here,and it has the serial number, GM logo and warning stamped on it. Just shoot a deer this morning with that barrel.
I was just wondering how you could verify the maker, if there are no stampings.

A fellow BPshooter that builds guns told me Rice is now making drop in barrels. Since. I have no need for one, never checked. Might be worth a look. Disappointed TOTW was so cavalier in its response regarding markings. Just wondering how many shooters out there stress out over stamping on barrels. Is it at least marked “For Black Powder Only”

TOTW house brand barrels are not marked with anything. At least the .36 I bought last year wasn’t.

I did a quick search and didn’t find the thread, but remember a few years back a thread where TOW was selling Green Mountain barrels with TC style breech plugs and some had leak issues, at least with the percussion breech plugs. Don’t remember if it was a casting or machining issue. As I remember it they were not GM breech plugs and they were not installed by GM, but by TOW or one of their suppliers. I never held one of those drop in barrels, but I have to wonder if they had the GM logo and a serial number? GM sells barrel blanks and I do not know how they are identified, but I have seen guns built with them (according to the builder) with no marking on them. It’s possible they were defarbed or possibly had no markings on them from the start, I just don’t know. That said, I have yet to see a TC style drop in barrel made by GM without their logo and a serial number.

Ive had GM barrels with just the logo, caliber, and twist rate stamped on the bottom flat. No serial numbers or Black Powder Only warnings stamped on them anywhere.

I bought a GN drop-in from the Gun Works a couple of years ago, it is marked with GM, the logo and caliber on the bottom flat, no BP warning.

Why not contact Green Mountain and ask if they sell unmarked barrels to retailers?

When I was building a few guns the green mountain barrels I got were not marked. I just checked 1 I still have. I would put my own serial numbers on them
