Until I can find some bamboo this will have to do for my spring gobbler quickshot load.

I used these quickshot containers last season for 12ga. T/C and to make them work for my 20ga. flintlock with the paper cups I had to ream the shot holding section out for it to hold the paper and shot.
I would much rather use bambo and use the joint as divider for powder and shot..then plug both ends with cork or whatever. Tie a piece of rawhide lengthwise to make sure plugged ends don't open. Just don't know where to find bamboo around here....So this is some pictures of what I used.
This is the post-it shotcup cut to about 3/8" longer than shot. The shot is sitting on top of 2 wonder wad 1000 felt wads.

I put a wad inside the tube so the paper cup extends above tube where I can grab paper to pull it out.

Just pour powder in other side and close up.

What about river cane?

It is found throughout much of the United States...

I'm sure there's some kinda cane or bamboo around here..just have to keep my eyes peeled..espically during gobbler season when I'm on the creeks.
Thinking maybe some of the craft stores might have some bamboo. Will have to take a measurement of the quickload's dia. and go lookin.

I guess i am not understanding something here. If you use bamboo and it has the joint to seperate the powder and shot, how are you going to push the paper shot cup out of the bamboo? You wouldn't be able to push it through. Maybe it is this cold i am coming down with and i am just missing something here.

I'm guessing either two sepperate tubes (one powder, one shot) or powder on one side, flip it over to pour shot out...

Yea, i can understand the pour the shot out, but then you couldn't use the paper shotcups he has in the picture. That's the part i am missing out on.

If you look at the pictures he provided using the plastic loader, he wants to have the paper extended so he can grab it and pull it out, not ram it through the bamboo...

Ok, but he also said if he used bamboo he would put a cork in each end to keep the powder and shot in. I would think the cork would press the paper down in making it hard to get ahold of. I think i need to go to bed. This cold must be getting to me.

Perhaps he will provide us with a picture of the finished product in action...

I didn't think about the cork problem with the bamboo. On the powder end of bamboo I could cut to length needed for charge and cork or plug. On the shot end I would have to seal just as the plastic quickshot..only use a bamboo end cap cut from the joint for length and reamed out to size. I would then tie a pc. of leather lengthwise around the bamboo quickshot for extra insurance against spillage. That's if I had some bamboo.
I know times have changed when I don't even have an ole cane fishing pole around the house...not only that I don't know where I could buy one around here...no more bait shops..with barrel full of cane poles.
