I made a purchase from a work buddy today, I got quite a bit of powder, Elephant and Goex. I do have a couple of questions though, 1) there’s a few odds and ends like 7f, 1f and cartridge powder.. what’s the best thing to do with all that? I’ve positively identified the 1f as being correct and the 7f is like talcum powder… so I’d say that’s correct. The guy who the powder came from was a local well known target shooter, so he ground his own powder to make it finer for his flintlock priming powder, that’s where the 7f came from, I have no use for the cartridge powder nor the 1f. It was a “ buy all or nothing” deal. So I purchased it all.
I can’t sell the oddballs, if I could I certainly would, so what could I do with it? I will most certainly not use it as fertilizer..

Good grief! As if 4f isn't enough, some guy has to grind it into talcum powder-grade? Discard that, if you're smart.

7f is an official powder grade. Checking. Believe used in blasting applications and no graphite. Several of my shooters use it and swear by it. Null b size dust.

I have some 7f. Works fine for priming powder. Can’t say it is any better than 4f, but I’ll use it up.

You could always grind the 1f finer.

Only problem with 7F and Null B is that it is not graphite coated and in high humidity it turns to soup in the pan.

Early Elephant powder was a dirtier fouling powder - the later manufactured Elephant powder was not as dirty, but both were of lower power than GOEX of the time. I have some 2F Elephant powder that I use in my 12- and 10-gauge SXS's - works ok in them.

I will not be getting rid of it… I’ll use it up as priming powder. The guy who made it or was using it was a line shooter at friendship.
