Had a good hunt today with the 36,4 bunnys and 1 quail. The quail was shot at 47 paces, had to lean againts a tree to get a good steady shot.Didnt think id even hit it but i did sum how.Used a thin square patch lubed generously with lard cut from a greasy strip i had tied to my bag.40 gr of 3f has made this gun have a much better reach.Balls were loaded with the thumb and ramrod used to slip it down the bore.Guess them old boys way back when new what they were doin.Think i will follow their path a little deeper into the woods from now on.

Great shooting! Nothing like fried rabbit and quail :p

I have to agree with that statement. I have gotten my chin greasy many times on rabbit and quail. Never taken a rabbit with a small caliber though...something else to look forward to.

Yup even a flatlander gets lucky once in awhile.good thing i got sum rabbits, that little quail by its self wouldnt be much of a meal and would have been darn right embarresen to have only it in the bag when i got home.

no way I'd be embarrassed hitin a quail at that distance w/a flinter.Way to go Buckknife.

You all are making me hungry! Been a while since I had any rabbit or quail.

Never had quail(none in Northern Mn/Wi)but ate many a rabbit. Memories of Shenandoah Valley Rabbit Casserole and Beer Braised rabbit and marinated hare for hausenpeffer are deliciously dancing in my head as I type this  :redthumb:

Id sure like to have a flinter, will defintly be the the next frontstuffer i get,i had the money saved for a pedersoil flinter last year but sum how moma ended up with nuthier diamond ring on her finger ::Dang that gal,she can play me like a fiddel sum times.
Probably for the best for id just be wanten a semi custom gun anyways.Got to start saven up again sumtime, just wont let the little woman know about it till its in my hands this time :haha:
