The good news is my new to me lyman gpr flintlock showed up today. What a beauty, i was playing with it and strokeing it when i found the bad news. A cracked stock, its cracked under the forarm from the thimble down to the back wedge key. i called dixon muzzleloading and lyman is going to replace the stock. also there was a gap between the tang and the barrel, big enough to see light through. Dixon said they would look at it also. so another week or so and ill have her back. Ho hum i hate the wait...

Check the threads in your touch hole. I bought a Trade rifle last week and it had badly mangled threads. I drilled it out and tapped it 5/16 NF and made a new counterbored touch hole liner out of 4130 crome moly.

Also the frizzen didn't seat exactly flush with the pan. A few minutes work with an Arkansaw stone made it perfect.
