Who sells a good Minie' bullet for the Zouave? I've bought on line from a supplier I won't mention but the casting quality was worse than poor.

Tom

if possible buy a mold and cast your own if you have time.. if they don't measure up remelt and try again..

You didn't say why the casting quality was poor but I'll be the first to say casting Minie's is difficult even with the best of molds.

There is a LOT of material that needs to flow smoothly into the cavity without cooling in order to get a good fill.

Using a lead temperature that is too low will always lead to 'cold shuts' with partially filled grooves or skirts.

Agreed. Nobody takes as much care as YOU might do. On the other paw, every single Buffalo bullet I've ever seen has been a beauty - but at about $65/C here, I'm happy to continue to use my Lyman mould, like I did last week to make 80 before I ran out of lead. Every one was perfect - why? - because anything less went right back in.

There was a guy on ebay a few years back that had a case buffalo bullets for $40. I've still not used them all up and they do shoot great.

The wrikles weren't the problem, the minie' bullets looked like they were cast in a mold that had alignnment problems The skirts were not filled out and there were voids in almost every one I examined.

I didn't know Moyer did bullets for muzzle loaders. I have them saved in my favorites and will contact them. Thanks.
