Had to wait all day but the brown truck finally made it about 6pm.
This is a .60cal. jaeger by Jud Brennan. 31" barrel. Davis lock. It is a rifle Jud built in Michigan before he moved to Alaska in 1985. By the scratches on the frizzen it appears to be minimally used maybe unfired. Must have been a closet queen somewhere. The bag also came with it. Made by Jerry Fisher.

Nice looking gun and a good hunting caliber especially for here in AK. Where are you at ?
As far as twist goes the patched balls don't care to much but even they show some preference as pitch increases and conicals sure have to have faster twist to be accurate.

I'm in Alabama. I hunt in my field and shots are only 30-40yds. I use a ground blind with a comfortable chair and an old camera tripod for a rest. A .60 will knock a deer off its feet at that range. No tracking.

Well I test fired it about 8 rounds offhand this afternoon. It is hitting about a foot low at 50yds. Problem is the front sight isn't dovetailed. Because it is inlet into the barrel, I don't want to mess with it. I will have to solder a higher blade on the back sight or replace it. I have done a new blade before using a piece of 1/16" steel soldered onto the sight blade. After a little shaping and bluing or browning it is hard to see, and it sits up higher. Plus the sight still fits the dovetail.

Wow! For real! Only been shooting since 1977. I never would have thought of shortening the front sight. As I said in my previous post, it is inlet in the barrel. I would prefer not messing with it.

Finally put it on the bench at 50yds. The hitting low-right shooting offhand was me pulling it. I figured out the sight picture and got this. At my deer killing range of 30-40 yds. off the tripod it won't be off enough to matter. I could nudge the back sight to the left a little, but it is nicely centered right now so I'll probably leave it.
.590 ball with 85gr. of 2F..
