Congrats!!! I've killed 3 deer this year in Michigan with my .50 cal Flinter one complete pass through 80 yard shot and two stayed in 15 and 30 yard shots but had good blood trails with all. I did have an almost nill blood trail on a hog I shot in Georga this year with my .62 smoothbore. Roundball stayed just under skin on opposite shoulder. Ball traveled center heart no lungs with almost NO blood. He only made 60 yards but has been my experience when you take out the heard it can't pump blood to give better blood trails unless hit real low. Not sure what your ball hit but didn't know if this would help. Also I shot a deer with my Longbow some years ago that was twisted licking his back leg when I shot, I had 7 inches differance between were the broadhead whent through the skin and where it entered the rib cage when he strained out to run..NO BLOOD on ground until 60 yards and that was blowing out his nose from double lung shot. May explain your rib question. Any way VERY COOL and Congrats on a fellow Michigander getting it done with a Flinter!!!
