One of these days I'm gonna get a T/C Hawken or Renagade with a 1" barrel channel, sell the barrel on eBay and buy me a 1" .58 caliber GM roundball barrel.

Whompability - I love that!! :rotf:

That's it for me..."Whompability"...I've come to enjoy a few different calibers now but when I stepped up to the .58cal...wow, what a difference.
The first thought that came to mind was "whompability" !

Throw all the charts away, load up a snug fitting .570"/279grn ball, with a man sized powder charge and do the following:

1) Shoot it into a row of several gallon jugs filled with water;

2) Shoot it into the shoulder of a deer at 50yds;

The reaction from both types of targets is visibly different from smaller lighter projectiles. You Immediately realize you're operating at a different level with the .58cal and it'll make you grin when you witness the power first hand. All ballistics discussions trying to compare .54s and .58's go quiet as soon as the typical .54cal owner takes a .58cal to the range.

Yes, Whompability.

grin:

Whompability is the only way to describe the sound of that ball hitting. I get a similar sound throwing .600 cal. RBs at a target backed by corregated cardboard, and even better if its got a 3/4" plywood backing to strike. WHOMP! :thumbsup:
