Ya know boys, our muzzle loadin season was Oct, 15 and 16, then All weapons is Nov 12 to the 27, Then Muzzle loadin is back from Dec, 10 to the 18, We can take 4 deer, one can be a buck, The fish cops asked us not to take any deer 8 points and under for this year, Guess they want the city folks to keep comin here to hunt, (money ya know, plus if you own the land or are the care taker, you don't need a huntin license) I like tender meat so I'll go with the does this year, I hunt for the meat not the rack, I have a problem when I ride up on a nice size buck, layin out in a field with one bullet hole in it and no rack on it, Who ever shot it just wanted the rack, And it was a good size deer, A lot of good meat, And the hunter just took the rack, That ain't no hunter, What would they be called??

Well done, Hobbles! That is one fine animal, and under that hide, there will be some exceptionally fine eating. Now, if I could just get my wife to even shoot my flintlock! Congratulations! :hatsoff:

Firewood for the flames of the antihunting movement. How or where did you obtain that brass rod?

Swamp Rat Flint50
Mornin boys, I thought the same thing bout the words I wanted to use and all, I hate havin to use a 7th grade vocabulary to express my self, But seain that makes me work hard not usin it, When I hunt, I really don't like killin, But I don't think bout it, I think I am puttin meat on the table, My Lady and I went thru the paper that had meat on sale after we got the meat cut up and put away, and we figured the $.40 to $.45 worth of powder and shot it took to drop that deer, we got bout $310.00 worth of meat, And that was the sale prices, Bein retired, that helps, But to kill any thing, just to show off that you can do it does bother me,, Oh well, I'll quit now,,,,,

My Lady is the same, She don't hunt, which is a good thing, She is right handed and left eyed, if you know what I mean, But she helps skin and clean and cut it up for the freezer, So that's good enough for me,, ( now the truth,, My eyes just ain't all that good any more and I sure would hate to be out-shot my a girl,, it's a man thing)

Donr get no better than that Mr. Hobbles! A fine eatin doe, a fine wimminfolk ta help with skinnin chores!

I enjoy a nice deer steak fried and with tha fixins .. but like you, I guess I must be gettin older cuz I tend to think that I enjoy the experience of just bein out in the woods with the animals as much as the prospect of huntin too! My grandpap was a mitey Texas hunter back in his day.. I used to watch him hunter, fish, and gather all sorts of wildlife as a younger! Well towards the end of his life .. he used to just to like to sit outside and enjoy the moment if you will, no real hunting .. just enjoyin nature ... I am beginning to undestand his feelings on it .. though we never talked about it! The joy of being out in nature and just taking it in ... well its not a bad way to do things to my way of thinkin!

Sorry to ruminate there ... :hmm:

The brass ramrods can also be had at Thunder Ridge Muzzle Loading ... custom sizes too!

October Country makes outstanding brass ramrods...either solids (heavy) or tubular (lighter) ones.

But even on the tubular ones, they use .060" thick walled brass tubing...and you have to search to find the "pinned" areas of the ends because of the unique way they join / seat the ends done into the tubing.

Lastly, they put a nice 1.5" knurling on the end under the muzzle for a sure grip...have several from them.
