I have been wathcing this thread called Double Barrel Percussion Pistol. I liked what I saw of the pistol. In the discussion Doc Arrayo asks, "wonder when they will sell them in the states?"
Got me to thinking, and being naive I decided to email Davide Pendersoli& C.. Well they just returned my email today. They sent pics and specs. The first shipment will be June's shipment at their states side distributor, Dixie Guns Works.
I have already emailed Dixie for details and prices. Already trying to decide whether to hock first born, or maybe a kidney. :hmm: Bad idea only got one good one will have to come up with new plan. :rotf:
If this seeems a little sloppy, its because I am drooling all over the keys. :youcrazy:
Sorry guys I have not been able to figure out as of yet how to include the pics and specs, but I am working on it.
I feel kinda like a 16 year old who just discovered women! :rotf: :rotf: :blah: :youcrazy: :rotf: :rotf:

OK here is the specs for the Howdah. As they wer sent to me by Pendersoli!I am still working on getting the pic posted! :hmm: :applause: :blah:

For the first question: Keep first born, may provide replacement kidney! :rotf:

As for the pistol, Yee-Hah! What a banger! :shocked2:

If those specs seem a bit confusing, they did not come through to the forum exactly as sent to me. When I pasted this attatchment. It was on a page with three seperate columns.
Think of each line as three seperate columns of information. In other words, line 3 indicates calibers available, line 4 shows barrel length of each respective cal., line 5 shows total length of each cal. combination, etc, etc!
I have not been able to send picture sent to me. It was an attatchment to the email and is lke 838mb. The size will not allow me to paste to the forum. It is a closeup of the pistol. I think it will be quite simailar to the link posted by fw. However is has a pin in butt for a lanyard ring, but ring will not be included!(Go figure)Will post mor when I know. :hmm:

going to have to get one of those, maybe two.

wonder how much DGW will charge-???

my guess is around $600.

Dave

That sure would be nice. Only time will tell, but I'm thinking more like in the $1K neighborhood. :shocked2:

Dont really have alot of neew info. Dixie finally got around to emailing me today. The only info they would give me is they have none at this time. They also informed me to check back mid June to see if they did indeed receive their shipment from Pendersoli.
I n my opinion that's no way to run a coumpany. They could have at least forward the info they should already have since tommorow is June 1st. :shake: :youcrazy:
That is the long and short of their information. No contact this person or number. I know you can't sell what you don't have but if I wanted to sell something I would at least give the public a bone to chew on. Oh well don't care for bone soup anyway!!! :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

I makes me so excited to see someone so excited about something. Hope it will be worth the wait.

Dixie Gun Works ain't what it used to be, ol' Turner Kirkland was a gun guy, his offspring are just money grubbers. I deal with Dixie only for things I can't get elsewhere, they do have a lot of stuff and the catalog is worth having just for the information they provide. I do buy their paper targets, the six bull targets run $6.00 per hundred or a penny per bull and that is hard to beat, especially if you get several hundred at a time to minimize the effect of the arbitrary "shipping and handling".
I don't see any reason why a double pistol should cost more than a double shotgun but I doubt it will me much cheaper.

A double pistol will cost what the market will pay, which may well be more than a double shotgun if the demand is great enough. Either that or they'll stop selling them.

Yeah I got a feeling it may be high myself. I asked if it would be available in a kit but like I said they were unwilling to share any info. Almost down right rude!
Probably won't be able to afford one, but hey I am still not to old to dream! Just my dreams have changed from what they used to be about since I ain't a pup no more! :rotf: :rotf:

Cliff,
I think it will sell between $575 to $595 in the US. I am willing to negotiate kits from Pedersoli if you want me to. They do not make kits at the moment The kits is not much cheaper but on our normal guys Shoe-string budgets it could bring it just within reach.

I'm sorry to hear about the Dixie service. Nothing can take the place of passion for what you do. Turner was passionate about guns.

Are you kidding I would love to see what you can find about the kits. I feel like I am seeing a mirage! I am about to change the topic of this thread to: I Though I Had The Scoop on Howdah! :rotf:
A kit might put it in more of an acceptable range. I am afraid good ole American greed is going to put this pistol of range for most! Especially since Dixie acted like it did!

.50cal...why don't you just wait and see how Dixie prices the pistol before bashing them about the issue.

If the Howdah sells for 575 - 595 range it will sell out of inventory very fast. I can't afford one but many can.

I'm not a fan of DGW either but you seem to be jumping the gun so to speak.

Handy

I was cking yor pics of the 3 together on " Double Barrel percussion pistol" and I see what I liked about the MVT and didnt like, the 350 price for a twin 20/62  and it is a bit smaller and art 2 lbs it is a easy carry gun in a holster, but the barrels being shorter is a problem when you shoot a big load, almost lost some fingers, did get them burnned a little. :rotf: am working on the hammer parts. Fred :hatsoff:

I have not bashed anybody yet! :shake: I am just trying to relay some information on a subject that their seemed to be interest in by myself and others on this forum. Or pehaps I should say lack of information.
The Pendeersoli Co. was gracious enough to at least reply to my email with any and all information that they could give me on this pistol when I inquired about. Their only state side supplier will be Dixie at this time. When I emailed Dixie and asked for any and all infromation they might be able to supply me on this pistol; this was their exact reply!
Dear Sir:
We have not started advertising or have any information at this time on the Howdah pistols. Please contact us again mid June to see if we have indeed received these.
Thank you,
DGW

Now I relize that a major company like Dixie may not have time to mess with me, just a lowly customer. But I do feel their reply was indeed lacking! You will not convince me that in this day and time, (and lets not forget the time period we are talking is two weeks from now) that Dixie does not know wheter they will recieve a shipment or not. For Pete's sakes pick up the phone and call your supplier, just like any of us would. To me the only varyable in this scenario, would be delivery. If you have not allready researched your market, figured out your selling price and have all information printed up by the time you are expecting to take delivery . Well lets just say, that in itself speaks volumes about your company!!
I have only stated what I know on this thread. The price is based on an estimation by the man who is responsible for helping in seeing this pistol born, along with Pendersoli Co. Since Dixie did not feel it prudent to give me any information!
Now if you want my opinion, and you are going to get wheter you do or don't! Dixie is the ones that slammed themselves by their unbussiness like reply. They should have been gracious enough to thank me for an interest in their product, supplied me with any and all infromation that they have. Then they could have went on to explain that their was a concern of timeing on their shipment! The rest of the slamming has been done by others on this forum who have dealt with them recently. I think you call that a dissatisfied customer!!!!!!!!

Yep me too, after yrs of getting stuff from them I got a new gun for 400 and 5 months later a part broke, I call, first it was they dont show i got it from them...Oh wait you did, on to service, we dont carry those parts click, I hadnt been mad till then , do it all over again "send it in" and thats how it stands right now ( Ive got to gt 1 more little thing from them but thats it. Frede

DGW to me is just another supplier, so I have no dog in this fight. However, an observation:

You (50ca.cliff) said I can't convince you that a major supplier would not know whether they will receive a shipment within two weeks of the expected date. So, in the spirit of making an observation, rather than trying to convince you of something you don't appear to want to change your mind about, I'll just observe that DGW is perhaps simply reflecting the attitude of someone who has been burned before when they counted on a delivery meeting it's date and finding nothing in the box on that date. I would personally be more upset if a retailer, of whom I am a customer, made representations about receiving goods that turned out to be wrong than if they simply said they couldn't commit yet.

Having said all that, I will categorically state (not just observe) that ALL of the Italian manufacturers have exhibited less than impressive competence in hitting delivery dates at one point or another in the last couple of years, to tune of SEVERAL weeks, and DGW is not alone in being victimized by that unfortunate trait. And no, the manufacturers do not seem to be able to predict that they will miss a delivery. By several weeks.

I sympathize with your angst regarding DGW. You have a right to feel unhappy. I, too, wish that they would be more forthcoming. But they MAY have a good reason. Perhaps, just perhaps. Just an observation, not trying to change your mind.
