Hello all, I had a problem develop with my rifle and figured I would ask for input here first.
All of the sudden my hammer will not stay cocked reliably without setting the trigger before cocking. Anyone ever heard of this before?

I have never taken the lock off to clean it. It has had a total of 18 rounds fired through it since new. Thanks for the suggestion.

It could be a loose action screw. Your hammer is riding on the fly rather than the full cock notch.

I've heard folks say those GPRs are packed with some sort of cosmoline when new. Might be some of that is gumming up the lock. If that is the case, a spray solvent and toothbrush is probably the best way to get it out of there. Water will just turn that stuff into sludge.

Sounds like the rear trigger bar is too close to the sear bar, it (the rear trigger bar) actually moves lower when the trigger is set. You may have to remove a little from either of these to give more clearance. you could also shim the trigger assembly lower in the stock. Try a 1/16" temporary shim under the trigger assy before removing any metal.
